MONEY & RECORDS
A quote is not an invoice. An invoice is not a payment.
Keeping these steps separate makes the whole flow easier to understand—and the records easier to trust.
First, the agreement
A quote describes the proposed work, price and conditions. When the customer accepts, converting it to an invoice can carry those details forward. There is no reason to type the same customer and line items from scratch if the work has already been agreed.
Then, the invoice
Issuing an invoice and delivering it are different events. You may email it, hand it over, or send the PDF through another channel. A missing customer email should not force you to invent a delivery that never happened. Record the channel you actually used.
Then, the money
An issued invoice is not proof that the payment arrived. Record a payment when it happens. OhFellow links that receipt to Money so that the payment can be followed back to its invoice. Amounts including VAT and sales excluding VAT also answer different questions.
Finally, the match
A bank movement is evidence to compare with your records. In Reconcile, match it to the recorded receipt instead of creating the same income again. The point is continuity: one agreement, one invoice, the payment that followed, and a bank movement that supports it.
